Floating Cork Floor Repair Process
  1. You’ll need to remove all the floor trim around the perimeter of your floating cork floor. It’s important to remove this trim carefully since we’ll be reusing it after the repairs are complete. Put a shim between the pry bar and your cork floating floor to prevent damage to the floor.
  2. Once you’ve removed all the floor molding you’ll need to determine which edge of your floor is closest to the damaged plank(s), the edge needs to be parallel to how the cork planks are connected together.
  3. Start by separating the first row of cork planks along the edge you located above. You’ll want to push the cork plank towards the open gap that was reveled when you removed your floor molding.
  4. You’ll want to keep removing each row until you reach your damaged plank(s). As you disconnect each plank it’s recommended that you lay it back down where it was removed from. This way you won’t spend hours trying to find the right plank for each row.
  5. Once you’ve reached your damaged cork plank you’ll just need to replace it and relock it in. Then you’ll want to start reconnecting each cork plank that you removed, aren’t you glad you left them lying on the floor where you removed them?
  6. Once your floating cork floor is reassembled you’ll want to use a hammer to reinstall your floor trim. Make sure to replace any nails that were bent in the process.
